Learning process on the Theory U approach, more than 100 participants in five editions in Belo Horizonte
Context
Theory U is a methodology developed by researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the Presencing Institute for personal, organisational and systemic development. For five years, we hosted the methodology learning Hub in Belo Horizonte, concurrently with the course offered annually by the international team of the Presencing Institute.
Approach
Over a period of two months, we guided participants on a learning path through the five macro-steps of the approach (Co-initiating, Co-sensing, Presencing, Co-creating and Co-evolving), from identifying a challenge or situation to break through to prototyping a solution or new way of dealing with that issue. This process is not linear: diving into the U involves investigating the roots of issues explored and understanding our own contributions to the maintenance of situations we wish to transform.
Our role as Hub hosts included sharing our knowledge and journey with the approach while encouraging the creation of a collective learning network and each participant's individual reflective path of enquiry.
